    C4 84 Cruise Clarification

Nearly ready to pull engine for rebuild and spruce engine compartment up on my wife's 84. I have viewed several photos of 84's which have shown the cruise mounted at the hood rear strut area as on the 85 and up models. Mine is located in left forward area--did they change this during the year and when? Not the original owner on this car and want to make it correct.

    Hi Bill

Cruise canister is located just above the battery on the drivers side. If you need a pic, let me know I will email it.

      Re: C4 84 Cruise Clarification

Hi Bill, All 1984 Corvettes had the cruise mounted in the front. In 85 Chevrolet had a recall for all 1984's and had a retrofit cruise kit and changed where cruise was mounted with complete kit. My 1984 was a June 1984 car, and I got dealer to give my a whole new kit to retrofit my cruise. Did not want to alter the way it came from the factory so I never put it on my corvette. I still have all the parts to this day. Also have the campaign letter dated March 1985 Product safety campaign 84C22(Relocation of cruise control servo assembly) Cruise control service kit p/n 14091226,plus servo #25074659,and bracket #14091272. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays, Save the Wave.>George

George and Mike, thanks for your info on the cruise. Glad to know as I think the original forward unit works (?) and just so happens I have an 86 unit just laying around too. I recall finding a website which showed all the corvette campaigns over the years but cannot find anymore. Would you happen to know where it is?

George--the documents you have would be nice to have as I start collecting references on this 84 (Dec 83). Are you able to send as an attachment via email or something--too much trouble don't worry about it. I love the 84 as I think over time she will be a great collectors item even if they made a zillion of them. Reminds me of my 58--lots of one year subtle to not so subtle differences.

          George and Bill

Thanks for the update. I purchased my 84 in 1986 with 3000 miles on it. I also have the campaign letter about the servo and the dealer sticker is still attached. i did not realize the servo was MOVED. I thought it was just updated/replaced. Thanks again for the info.
