This isn't my specialty area. I CAN tell you that the L88/89 cars were very limited production runs and casting dates on critical components here are known to be exceptions to the traditional NCRS "6-month" rule.
Also, when pilot production runs were made for specialty items (see the story Colvin tells about the '65 M-22 'rockcrusher' tranny), it was not unheard of for these parts to be intentionally altered to prevent dealer service personnel from mistaking them in the field both then as well as later. So, the fact that you see 'grind' marks on the casting specifics is not a 'given' the parts were tampered with by non-GM folks later in life....- Top
