The body to my 68 is off the frame. I have recently restored the frame and would like to put the body back on. While restoring the frame, I had to replace the right side #3 body mount. My question is; should I put the body back on the frame using the same amount of shims that were originaly on the frame? I was going to take the car to a professional who stated he can re-shim the car. If the process is not too complex I would like to re-shim the car myself and save some money. Does anyone know the correct procedure for determing how to correctly shim a body to a frame?
There should be a lot on this in the archives. We have hashed it about everytime someone replaces a body, it seems. Thing is, there is no magic number. Shim to get a basically level body and good door fit. Thats all there is to it.
