Why don't you try documenting previous owners of your car and see if they can provide any leads? I talked to the sixth owner back and before I even asked, he volunteered that he had the original block to my car in his garage gathering dust!
for a lot less than those blocks on e bay you can have your block "corrected" back when i was involved the going price was $350 but that was in the 80s. i never did it but i could point you in the right direction. the epoxy and iron fillings numbers are at least that old.
