I need some help in determining the difference between an original and reproduction jack. The repros have the correct SJ4653 stamping, the fine threaded rod etc. Any help from the C1 experts is appreciated.

Re: 53-61 Bumper Jack
Hi Dave:
I bought a repro jack for my 56 several years ago from CC. This one does have the little rectangles along the sides on the bottom side of the base. In comparing my repro to an original 56 jack, the repro rectangles are more pronounced than the original. There were also some differences in the rivet heads between the two. Some repros may not have the rectangles, but mine does. I have heard some military vehicles used the same jack as the solid axles, and saw one at Carlisle PA in olive drab, so I believe it to be true. I have yet to determine what military vehicles might have used this jack. Anyone have this information??
Regards.

Re: 53-61 Bumper Jack
Military jeeps of the 50's used the same jack, the only thing is that they had four SMALL holes in the base at each corner to keep them from sliding around and were mounted at the top fender area. The same company made them for G.M and Military use . If some one found one , you could weld the holes and have a 53-60 Corvette ( I don't know about 61-62)- Top
