I have seen several various type T-3 headlights, one with a clear view behind the T-3; one with vertical strips behind the T-3; and a last which is similar to the first in that it seems clear with some degree of distoration in the glass. In the '61 - '62 judging reference manual, it shows the correct T-3 type as having a pebble view behind the T-3. I visited several salvage yards over the years and most recently went in search of the the T-3 with the pebble background. I looked at all '61 and '62 General Motors vehicles and found several interesting combination. On some Corvairs, I found the low beams with the vertical strips and the high-beam with the clear background. Most of the rest were either clear or the distorted clear behind the T-3. Was there pebble background T-3's or was this the distorted looking clear?

Re: Correct T-3 Headlights for '62
Think you'll find a typo in the JG here. The earlier SA T-3 lamps for dual beam application did have pebble grain in the triangle. I've seen one set of T-3 quad lamps with VERY modest grain that were one of the first sets out (NOS in box). ALL of the quad beam T3's I've seen in real McCoy GM cars from '58 forward had clear triangle!!! In fact, if you look at what's listed in the '63 and later JG's you'll find the description is given as clear AND those doing reproduction of the lamps do NOT offer a pebble grain version....- Top
