Is this '63 road racing car a GM built car or not?

Ok one of you geiuses. I've got a car that was obviously used as a road race car. My question is was it actually designed by GM or not. The website where it is located is...

Webs.com has been shut down on the 31st of August 2023. Find out what that means for your site and how to move it to another provider.

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Bunches
    Gary

    Gary,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this was no factory racer.

Chevy made only 5 Corvette Grand Sports, all are accounted for, and this in NOT one of them. From the aftermarket headders with muffler tubes to the rear spoiler and Wester Wheel aluminum wheel and the late 70s side scoops this whole thing SCREAMS out that it was somebody's toy, for cruising and impressing teenagers. Also all real race cars have rool bar systems with the approval tag on them.

I'd suggets to either finish the customization or begin the restoration.

I also highly recommend to enjoy driving it and often when completed.

      Don,

Well I certainly was aware of the Grand Sports. But my question was more to the point of could there have been any GM built road race cars that were possibly in a higher division than the Grand Sports. Such as IMSA, Can Am and etc.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Grand Sports' have Hooker Headers with side pipes too. I know that all of the Vintage Car, Trans Am, SCCA, and GT races that you see are utilizing them.

      Thanks Bunches

Nope, the Grand Sports didn't have Hooker anything; their (original) exhaust systems were fabricated from scratch at Chevrolet Engineering.

The Grand Sports preceeded Can-Am, and IMSA did not exist in 1963. The SCCA sanctioned the United State Road Racing Championship, which was a predecessor series to the Can-Am.

The Grand Sports were conceived to run as "production" grand touring cars in the FIA Makes Championship, of which LeMans was the premier race, but Daytona, Sebring, and Watkins Glen were also FIA points races in 1963.

Gary, you're going to have to put another nickel

                    in your computer.

                    Your web site is unaccessible:

Is this post for real? The whole "web" page seems like a practical joke- complete with all the BIG OL' Whatever part descriptions. Guys- I suspect someone's pulling our chains.
