Can "non-dripper" type valve covers be used on a 1967 big block engine with aluminum heads without damaging a set of roller rockers, or should the "dripper" type covers be used? Thanks, Rex #8089

Re: Big Block valve covers
Dave and Rex-----
No damage will occur if valve covers without drippers are used on any big block application. Many original big blocks used valve covers without drippers. If you were using your engine for consistent, "hard" operation, then I'd probably go with the drippers. With roller rocker arms, drippers are NOT necessary and it's best not to use them. Usually, they must be removed for clearance reasons with roller rocker posi-lock type nuts.
Dave----are you using Crower stainless steel roller rockers with stock-type valve covers? Are there any clearance problems with the rockers or posi-lock nuts?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Big Block valve covers
Joe - I have a set of Comp Cams Pro Magnum roller rockers in a 454 LS6 crate engine with GM dripper valve covers....the vintage as used on 68 up. I had to shorten the posi-locks on my metal lathe to clear but other than that they worked fine. In fact, I may only have had to turn down one of the back posi-locks in the "dent" area for the PB booster. I don't know if the covers I have for my 66 will work, that PB "dent" is larger and wider than the 68 up cover...Craig- Top
