Re: WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT
What you ask for is given (with pictures) in the Chassis Service Manual. Here, you've got a side issue. Because you have a 1970 Corvette AND production start-up was strike delayed until Jan '70, when you lay down the loot for your 1970 Chevrolet Passenger Car Chassis Service Manual, you'll get a Catch-22. You'll open the book to find it describing the '69 Corvette instead of the '70 because that's was WAS in production when the CSM went to press to support 1970MY cars!!!
As far as the windshield goes, there's no difference and the book's info is all you need. As far as some other subtile things that really did change from '69 to '70 (like removing the egg crate grilles to access things like an A/C car's heater shutoff valve or it's washer bag), you unfortunately have the burden all other '70 owners share with a CSM that doesn't fully speak to your car due to its unique MY change over.
BUT, if you buy both '70 and '71 CSM books you've pretty much got your bases covered. Those of us with '71 cars have our own cross to bear in that some '71-only items (E.g. CEC emissions system) were released very late and are not fully covered (no troubleshooting guide and published wiring diagrams are WRONG) by the official '71 CSM. We have the pleasure of buying '71 and '72 CSM books and get to read 'between the lines' too...
Still, you'll find the CSM and invaluable addition to your support library. One reason is Corvette was the only Chevy Passenger car that was NOT Body by Fisher and there's an entire chapter in the CSM that speaks to Corvette body items (how to remove door panels, replace glass, Etc.) that'll help you do routine maintenance and adjustment stuff fast and right. You'll find the CSM books listed in the NCRS Merchandise library as well as in stock by folks like Helm, Inc., the largest publisher of automotive service data in the world.- Top
