    Radio Speaker

I just pulled my 63 AM Wonderbar radio and the speaker. The speaker I pulled out is Delco # 16004150 and it is shot. Can someone advise me of a good replacement speaker ? Also, what ohm rating should I look for? This speaker has no markings for resistance. Thanks.

    Peter----

The GM #16004150 speaker which you removed is NOT an original unit. It is a much later GM replacement of some sort. I can find no information that it was ever a GM catalogued replacement for your application, but it may have been a "one-size-fits-all" Delco parts system replacement. The original speaker for your car was a GM #7262156 which was later replaced by GM #7282256. The latter part was discontinued without supercession over 20 years ago.

Corvette speakers were rated at 10 ohm. However, you can usually use an 8 ohm speaker without any problems or damage to the radio unit. 8 ohm speakers are quite common. I would look for a high quality 6 X 9 speaker from an aftermarket source. The sound improvement will be considerable.
