    69 b/b 427-435 4 speed

I have read several tech questions on trans tags.
    I have a tag # 3946798 small rectangular aprox 1"1/2 long
does this belong on the trans cover? and if so what bolt hole in the cover pattern?
and what info does this display about the trans?
there is also a round tag # not available this minute , can you tell me about this tag. about the size of a quarter.

Kelly --- I don't have much info on '69s, but my 53-70 Corvette Parts Catalog lists # 3946798 as "69 Corvette, close ratio w/special high performance 427 (except positraction); AS WELL AS: close ratio, w/H/Per (350) (exc. P/Trac); IN ADDITION TO: close ratio w/P/Trac (4 Barrel Carb w/H/Per) (427)".
I find these descriptions totally confusing; how a counter parts man could figure them out is beyond me.

The dimensions of the Muncie trans cover tag (from Noland's Vol 2, pg. 147) are: width 0.62", length from center of bolt hole to end, 1.44"; hole dia. 23/64ths", and goes on the forward bottom bolt.

on the additional lift of 1/8-1/4 " by using the rubber isolated vs the aluminum spacer . the additional lift was that after torqed down . and were you still able to use the shims to corect the gaps and deficiecies? What i mean is did the shims interfere with the rubber mounts size or are they similar.,

            Kelly -

I'm not aware of any stamped round metal tag anywhere on a mid-year car.

              John and Kelley----

I can't think of any that were used on a C3, either.

Might be a key tag from a dealer - the numbers might be a stock number. I don't know for sure, just a WAG.

This may be way out but the tool crib where I worked issued 10 tags with your badge # on them to use when you got a special tool out of the crib. One may have been lost in your Corvette.
