Does the front of the lower ignition heat shield fit between the block and the motor mount or outside of the mount? If it fits outside of the mount, it appears the configuration of replacement mounts prevents the installation of the heat shields without some modification of the shields. Any insight or experience with this problem would be appreciated!!!!

Re: 68 lower ignition shielding
If you are installing new motor mounts your original lower ignition shielding will not bolt up like they would on the original motor mounts. The ignition shield attachment does fit on top of the motor mount with the motor mount placed against the block. There may be source of reproduction motor mounts so you can use your original ignition shielding.- Top

Re: 68 lower ignition shielding *TL*
I don't know about reproduction shielding, but the 1970+ lower shields (boomerangs) are made to fit the newer (captive or locking) motor mounts. If you have one of your originals in hand at a swap meet it shouldn't be to hard to find a set of newer ones - now as to their condition??? Good luck.
