    Re: C2 throwout bearing

    John -

Correct pedal free play is more like 1-1/2", and you should have a 1-1/4"-long throwout bearing (not the longer 1-7/8" type used on some other Chevys). When you installed the throwout bearing to the clutch fork, did you ensure that the "curls" on the end of the fork AND the tension spring are both INSIDE the circumferential groove on the bearing? This design allows the bearing to be improperly assembled to the fork (with the flange on the rear of the bearing captured by the "curls" in the fork), and that will prevent correct free play adjustment and eventually damage the bearing and the sleeve on the front bearing retainer.

The curls and the tension springs are inside the groove of the bearing. The fit was good with little end play.
