    C3 72 Convertible #4 Body Mount/Cage Nuts

Just getting ready to finish #4 body mount repairs on my son's 72 convertible. Towers are out and all old reminants of rusted away pieces cleaned up or removed(mount/upper tower bracket/cage nuts). We have new #4 mounts and upper tower brackets. I am not sure on the cage and nut replacement as I have not ordered yet. Question is this: Is the cage held in place by rivets inserted from the body underside and then peened inside the tower well? Once cage/cage nut are attached, then it appears that the #4 mount and the upper tower bracket are riveted in place. Real question concerns the riveting of the cage as we have nothing to go from due to rusted out nature of original cage.

The caged nut in the bottom inside goes in first and is peened inside. The #4 sheet metal body mount on the outside and sheet metal part with the nut on the inside to hold the spring are riveted together with the same rivets and as I recall come from the bottom up on convertibles. I will check for sure.

Thanks Lyle. I am comfortable on the mount and tower bracket as these items were not too rusted and we had something to go by. Based on your response on the cage and nut, very comfortable on this now.
