Intake Paint

I have my intake manifold off my 1967 327/300HP engine. I would like to repaint it. Does the hole where the distributor fits get painted? Also how about the hole at the oil fill tube? I assume the factory installed the distributor and oil fill tube after engine painting, so the holes must have been plugged. But does the service around the holes where the distributor to manifold gasket goes get painted?

Both the distributor and the oil fill tube were in place when the engine was painted; a coffee can was placed over the distributor, and a cardboard tube was placed over the oil fill tube, to mask them during painting.

Thanks, John. Will it effect anything if the surfaces around the top and sides of the holes are painted? I'm asking because it would be easier to paint without masking.

Ralph -

The area around the base of the distributor (and the hold-down clamp) will show some degree of overspray, but I'd mask off the base of the oil fill tube; that area showed a much more defined break.
