    Dave -

The engine compartment blackout was done in the Paint Shop, long before any heater components were installed on the Trim Line; those components should show no blackout.

      Dave:

All metal components on the heater box (on the interior side of the firewall) get painted gloss black. That includes the metal parts of the "y" duct and the defroster duct.

Rivets appear to be natural - not patinted *NM*

          Joe,
I just noticed that the JM calls for the blower motor case to be semi gloss. I'll paint the engine compartment metal parts SG black and interior gloss black.

Of course they are-- the sheetmetal parts were fastened to the composite AFTER they were painted gloss black!!

              Dave:

It seems that the TIM&JG uses the terms "semigloss" and "gloss" somewhat indescriminately at times. I can tell you that all the metal parts under the dash were virgin, before I restored the car, and they were gloss black (except, of course for the rivets, which I must not forget to mention). The blower motor case appeared, as you said, semigloss (in agreement with the TIM&GJ), and I refinished it as such.
