    C3 Door panel removal

I've searched the archives and found out some info on removal of the panel
but after I've removed the clip around the door lock knob, I still can't
get the knob off. It's loose but I'm afraid to try and pull it out.
Am I still missing something else that needs to be done? Thanks.

If you have the wire clip off that is all that holds it on. The lock will take some pulling without damage but don,t rush the job as it must have a burr on it as they usually fall off..

The clip was not wire but instead plastic. Is there another clip I am
      missing? Thanks.

Hi Brian, Check Corvette Fever (March 2003) page 52, SHARK bites. There a small article about how to separate the metal inner liner from the fiberglass door. Good Luck, Save the Wave.>George

There is a wire clip that is shaped like a C that slides into grooves on the back side of the lock knob. There is a special tool used to remove it that is sold in most parts catalogs. It can also be removed using a wire with a small hook on the end catching the clip and pulling it out. Half the trick is figuring which way the clip is facing. I think the plastic that you are referring to is a bushing between the lock knob and the door panel.

I have seen a plastic C clip. What year C-3 are you working on? If the panel is in a bind it may not be centered on the lock stem so get everything else off that may help.
