    C3 69 vs 70 Fender Flares

Were there any very late production '69's that may have came with 70 style flared fenders???
    Thx

    Jim------

I never saw one, and I followed 69s pretty intensively back in 1969 (and, somewhat, even since then). For one thing, if a 69 had used the 70 style fenders, then the front fenders would have had to include the 70 style gill panels-----the gill openings were part of the panel which also included the "flares". Of course, GM could have made fenders with 69 style gills with the 70 style flares. But, they didn't; I'm quite certain of that.

I have judged and surveyed 1969s up to #38,701 and never seen what you describe. That said I have seen less than 2% of 1969 Corvette production. I have learned to: "Never say never!"

The side marker lights were also different sizes and design.

Jim: I had an early 70 that appeared to have a 69 floor pan in it. The windshield vin # and engine and trans derivitives stamps were all 70. I found this out when I went to replace the seat belts and found the anchor bolt in the middle of the floor behind each seat as opposed to the rocker area where it should have been. So you never know.

In addition to the front fender side grilles being wrong, the rear exhaust outlet cutouts would also. Since there were no side exhausts in 70 (with quarters having NO cutout) a 70 quarter would show some type of repair in this area if later grafted on a 69 car. It'd be a good place to look.
