I am beginning to assembly my '67 convertible. I removed the rocker panels and
aft door pillar panels to repair bird cage damage. I was able to repair the rocker panel and reinstall it but I purchased new pillar covers from Corvette Image. I have the drivers door hung to align the body lines. Is it common to have to use a lot of shims to get the doors correct. I think I have three shims on the top hinge and five on the bottom hinge and I could probably use another one or two at the bottom to get the door out to line up better with the front fender. The repro door pillar cover fits pretty good along the quarter panel and to the rocker panel but there is a 1/4 - 3/8 up top where it meets the rear deck panel and quarter panel. I recall grinding out a lot of adhesive and the adhesive on the passenger side appears to be pretty thick in that area too. Does this seem normal?
