I am getting ready to assemble my 67 509 1" master cylinder after brass sleeving from Apple Hydraulics. I now have a Bendix rebuild kit, and it came with a new rear piston assembly with seals, and all seals for the front piston plus a new hardened thin washer for behind one of the front piston seals. All parts appear very high quality and US made, it was of course, a special order part. Upon cleanup of my old Delco front piston assembly, it is serviceable, and will work, but it does have a fair amount of pitting in the casting at various points. Does anyone know if the Rabestos kit contains BOTH front and rear pistons? I suspect not, the price was similar with both in the $35 range. I believe NAPA's kit did not either when I had someone check..it was around $41. I would really rather have a new front piston as well before assembly, if possible...thx!...Craig

Craig------
I don't know of any master cylinder rebuild kits that contain the secondary (rear) piston. Even the GM kits, when they were available, did not contain this piston. It was always a seperate part. The GM secondary pistons have been discontinued for many years.
As far as I know, none of the aftermarket brake parts suppliers offer the secondary piston. But, it's worth checking into further. They must be manufactured since new master cylinders are available which include the piston. Also, I would guess that master cylinder commercial rebuilders must be able to get them for those instances in which the piston must be replaced rather than just re-sealed.
In any event, a new secondary piston is available for the price of a new master cylinder. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
