Front Springs Revisted- I'm going crazy!!!!

I need help understanding what can effect the ride height other than the spring? With the steering knuckle being constant and the rear A - arm being ancored is the spring the only influence on ride height. Has anyone used the springs from Long Island without the right results? There really is no roll out required on the front spring or front suspension. Without having the bushings tighted is there any other thing that could be holding my car artificlly high? I am willing to try anything to avoid pulling the springs out again. I think I have original components-- I drove the car for two years prior to resto. The car did sit high in pictures prior to resto. But I have replaced the springs now????? I need help.

You DO have to roll the car, and it's best to roll it back and forth several times while turning the steering wheel back and forth. The shorter the roll distance, the more times you should roll it back and forth. Because the wheels camber in full droop they will tend to "jam up" the suspension when the car is set back on the ground until you roll it out.

Assuming the springs are correct specification and properly installed the only other variable is sprung mass. Early C2s did not have different springs for AC, but I think the later versions did. The AC springs would be a hair longer to maintain ride height with the added front sprung mass from the AC system.

      Hi Keith,
After doing my restoration my 67 /427 sat about 2 inches too high , I replaced them with a set of F-41 springs from Zip and I believe it sits proper now.

Send me an Email and I'll fire a picture to you

        Keith:

I hate to bring up the obvious, but is the car fully loaded? Also, a full tank of gas will unload the nose by a good 1/2". The original coils for your car are GM discontinued as of about 2 years ago. I was lucky enough to get a pair just prior to this. I have heard that the aftermarket units usually cause the car to sit higher. My car sat level before I restored it, so I am fairly sure my originals are OK, if you want to give them a try, let me know "off the boards".
