On the forward jamb of the door, there is a hole to allow access to the forward bolt (screw) that attaches the door post to the door assembly. What is the diameter of that hole? The previous owner "opened" the holes with what must have been Visegrips and I would like to repair them and bring the doors back to original.

Re: C1 '58 door access hole
Terry,
The holes were pretty rough on all cars. The factory filled the hole to within about 1/2" from the top with the non-hardening putty and then topped the hole off with bonding adhesive and touched up the area with matching body paint. If you fill the entire hole with bonding adhesive, you will find it almost impossible to ever get the plug out again if door post replacement is ever needed. With the soft putty under the bonding adhesive, you only need to strike the plug with a hammer and screwdriver to break the plug and get access to the bolt.
