64 Repro Fender Mirror

Just bought a repro from Paragon Productions. The grove of the bowtie on the back is not clean - contains casting inclusions. The snap ring holding the glass is very much exposed like it is not seated deeply enough when compared to the old/original mirror. They dated the glass so it may have been removed and replaced. My question is this: does anyone have experience with the available repro mirrors? Should I expect better than this and, if so, from who?

Not sure who you think could supply a better exterior reproduction mirror as Paragon bought and owns the factory original tooling from Donnelly Mirror, Inc. (DMI) and supplies all the other catalog houses with 'correct' repro mirrors from this period.... If it's a matter of poor workmanship, just call Paragon and talk to 'em. They pride themselves on customer satisfaction.

I had an exterior mirror (Shark) that I felt was not constructed properly -- insufficient tension on the mounting ball. I called, asked for customer service, explained the situation and they PROMPTLY replaced the mirror they'd shipped me with one that was GREAT!

I agree. He should send it back.

As an FYI, Corvette Central also makes their own mirrors. I don't know if each makes some and "swaps" or not.

I've been to CC and SEEN them making them.

P.S. I pass the old Donnelly plant a couple of times a week here in town where they all originated.

FYI there is at least a third and possibly ever more mirror manufacturers, or rather those having mirrors made with the tooling they have purchased. Its NOT me! Some of these mirrors are made far, far away in the West. Way, way West of California that is.
