    Dr. Rebuild update

Tonight I went to order some brake hoses and misc. stuff from our ever friendly Dr. Got all the way up to the point of verifying the credit card. It appears that I have a personal note from the owner on my file to "not accept any orders". It seems that the last time I called and asked for a FedEx/UPS delivery he got very un-charming and stated "I don't have time for this". My retort was something to the effect that this wasn't very good customer relations and certainly not a good business practice. In addition, if you advertise overnight delivery what good is it if you can't deliver on it? I am certain that I had a "small" amount of attitude in the tone. As a side note, I had the folks on the other end pull up my purchasing history over the last 2 years. Needless to say, if my wife say the total bill I could no longer use the arguement that "this is an investment and we will always recover our expenses when we sell the 66!" The lady on the other end was very apologetic seven ways to Sunday. My comment was that they were not the only game in town. BTW, check out Volunteer Products. Just about every item is 2-5% cheaper than even the good Dr. Rebuild.

Sorry if I am venting, but remember the last chain of comments on our Dr.

    Gary,

So i guess you wont be shopping with Dr. Feelbad any more huh?? Hehehehehehehehe................................fo r people running a business , what exactly are they thinking? As i've been restoring my 69 (my first resto of ANY car) I've found it a joy to order items from most companies such as Paragon , and Corvette Central where the employees are absolutely friendly and helpful to a fault. Living in the rude state of NY I sometimes think to myself "these people really cant be THIS friendly!". However whenever I called DR. Feelbad, it was like "hey , this is more like what im used to in NYC!!!" ..................I still cant believe I actually called up Dr. Feelbad with a tech question once...................ONCE!!!!!!!

        Re: Dr. Repuke update

        Hey Gary,

I thought it was only me! I could not even get an order in without him hanging up on me. All the other parts houses seem to be grateful we are buying from them. That is to much to ask from Dr. Repuke.

        Hang in there,

        Gerald

I guess I am the only one here that likes the Doctor, everything has always been great. Maybe I am too easy going. If you are looking for better prices try Willcox but thay don't have a catalog . Easy Going Jim

Jim, guess that I too am too easy going as I have not had any problems with Dr. Rebuild. Have not had that many dealings but the ones that I have had have been problem free.

I've just placed my first order with the doctor and I did it by mail. Coward!

Has anyone tried Danchuk - they claim to be the world's largest manufacturer of '55-'57 resto parts and have now attacked the Corvette market. I just received their shiny new catalog yesterday and it is comprehensive. Haven't had a chance to look at their pricing because there is a separate pricing book which makes it a chore.

Sure Dr. Repro is a little weird but...

Sure Dr. Repro is a little weird but he has as much right to be rude and arrogant as you have to simply buy your parts elsewhere. Just because most businesses are polite and friendly because it makes good business sense doesn't mean he has to do what you might expect. He isn't working under a grant or federal funding so he doesn't have to deal with anyone on any terms but his own, however counterproductive they may be. The fact that his practices and attitude seem to be self-destructive are his own business.

If he were misrepresenting repro parts as original or taking payment and then failing to ship product, I would think that a "heads-up" on this board would certainly be appropriate but, IMO, several threads whining about the Doc's (lack of) personality isn't.

I'm not a fan of his but don't think this board should be an international forum for libeling him or anyone else who poses no threat to the "Corvette Community" other than the possibility of a mildly unpleasant telephone encounter. We're all big boys, in a relatively high-end hobby, I would hope we could focus on parts and not personalities and definitly not "Dr. Updates".

Jeff, I am not sure that I would identify my posting as "libeling" the Dr. but more of an observation. If you will read my post again, it mentions that he will not sell me parts, which as you observed correctly, he has every right to do. Nor is this whining, again just an observation. I DO think that this board is the appropriate place to post questions on parts, repairs, history, etc of Corvettes and I also think that an observation of a vendor is appropriate. I meant no harm or offense to anyone on this site. If you have been a member long, you will know that I do my best to help our fellow enthusiasts. Gary
