    C2 Headlight Support Rods

The headlight support rods in my 65 roadster have a weld nut at the bottom where they connect to the radiator support. On the top they are threaded and go through a threaded sleeve that is bolted to the headlight end panel, making the overall length adjustable. The left one needs replaced. The replacements I see in the catalogs do not seem to have this threaded arrangement, are mine correct or someones previous repair job? Thanks in advance for assitance.

    George------

My distinct recollection is that these headlamp support rods have a weld nut on both ends.

I replaced the passenger side on my 63 a couple of years ago. They were not adjustable. Without them in place the nose of the car can be moved up and down quite a bit. I lined the support up with the bolt holes by lifting and lowering the nose.

The original rods were not adjustable - the hole at each end was threaded (or had a weld nut) for the bolt through the rad support and lower valance panel reinforcement at the bottom and the bolt through the headlight opening panel at the top.

          George:

The headlight suport rods are not adjustable, and are black phosphate, with black phosphate attachment hardware.

            John, Bob, Joe,

Thank you for your assistance, I will order new ones tomorrow. The only rule in this process seems to be I only want to do it once!

            Thanks again,

            George
