    C2 Restoration

I own a 1967 small block convertible that's been sitting in my garage for the past ten years. The car is orginal and complete but needs a full restoration,ie.engine rebuild, body work, paint, etc. I have finally decided to look into having the restoration work done and plan to talk to a number of restoration shops located both locally, in the New York area, and out of state. Earlier today I spoke with the people at White Post in Va. and they will be sending me info on their work. I undertand that they do good work and are very reputable. If anybody on the DB has used them or are familiar with their services I would like to hear from you. The idea of going with an out of state shop does concern me in the sense that you can't just show up on the weekends and see how things are going. Thanks for any feedback.

White Post is "Top Shelf" although for years their specialty was Mercedes Benz. However, I recall they did all sorts of other classic and specialty resto's. So-they can probably do a great job on Corvettes.

I believe there are a few shops on Long Island that do restoration work. Ask the NCRS Long Island chapter.

Inquire at "Vette Dreams" located in West Babylon, Long Island New York (Suffolk County). They do excellent work and have ben featured in some magazines. They have a pretty big, nice facility and do not take short cuts in their work. I am having a frame off done of my 69 350/350 convertible there. They are not cheap, as in my opinion good work does not come cheap (paint job runs about 9k, labor rate for miscellaneous things is probably around 65/hour now i think, each part of car such as interior/engine compartment is broken up by price). They are not exactly fast ( my car has been there 3 years) but I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and although I wish I had my car back , the level of work eases my mind. I think they have a web site also with the phone #.
