C3 Power Steering

I recently dropped the power steering components (power RAM and control valve) for seal repairs. What would be an acceptable solvent or rinse-fluid to rinse out the power RAM? Should I be concerned about any internal seals?

I would only use new power steering fluid. Since you have these units off the car, I would rebuild them. The kits are relatively inexpensive and available at most local auto parts supply.

For the power steering hydraulic cylinder, where you can't access and replace some of the seals, I would use only fresh power steering fluid as Bernie suggests. For the other components, in which all of the seals and soft parts can and are replaced as part of unit overhaul, just about any solvent will work ok as long as it's COMPLETELY removed prior to re-assembly.
