C1 package tray support to kick panel attachmen

can anyone tell me how the lower package tray support/heater cover is attached at the right hand kick panel on my 1960. The hole in the kick panel is to large for a simple trim screw. It looks like some type of speed nut or clip needs to be used however there is not way to install one. Did I perhaps overlook a needed repair to the hole in the kick panel? My assembly manual dosn't show this section of the two parts mentioned.

I am at the exact same point with my 1960. In the past, I used a screw with trim washer, reached behind the kick panel and placed a flat spring nut on the back of the screw, then tighten. The trim washer will cover the large hole. When I purchased the car in 1989 there was nothing in the hole. You will get some responses from several C1 owners and we may both learn something.

      Joe,
I belive that the way you did it was the way they did it at the factory. I went ahead and put a simple plastic anchor in the hole like you would use for sheetrock and now do not have to reach behind there anymore. I have used them in many places where they are not visible like door panel screw holes and sill plate holes. If they ever wear out you just replace the plastic anchor.
