Just started to install rebuilt radio in my '62. I can't get the volume knob to stay on. The shaft keeps going back into radio. Sleeve around the shaft is pushed back in as well. Anyone have this problem? The person who rebuilt is no longer alive. Thanks for any help. Don

Re: C-1 Wonderbar Radio
Don,
Bill Kromer just refurbished my 61 wonderbar and I had the same problem. I sent it back to him and he was able to correct the problem. The shafts are apparently prone to that problem if to much pressure is put on them.- Top

Re: C-1 Wonderbar Radio
Hum, other 'advice' here says WB shafts are prone to this problem (moving in/out).... Well, they certainly are when the radio is assembled incorrectly! Shafts had one nut installed to hold the control tight/flush to the case. A second nut secured the radio to the dash console. Both are identical!
When shade tree folks tinkered with radios on the bench some found there were 'extra' parts (a second set of shaft nuts).... The inner nut is NECESSARY because some parts attach between the shaft control and the interior chassis/case making it vital that the shaft NOT move in/out (can break/fracture component leads). Specificially, on the Pwr/Vol control there are capacitors running from the potentiameter segment of the control to chassis ground to achieve bass/treble control.- Top
