How does one tell a reproduction mid year jack from an original jack?

If you are buying the jack new, the vendor will let you know it is a repoduction, since he wants you to know it is not meant for actually supporting the weight of your vehihcle.

And the OEM jack was not one bit stronger than the reproduction jack, but there weren't as many lawyers in 1967, so the OEM jack didn't have a CYA disclaimer sticker on it like the repros do

I've been debating with myself on the same repro/original? After reading Rob and Johns posts I think I'll just buy a good jack to support the weight and worry about a repro or original if I deceide to "show".

After my original jack collapsed in 1963 I bought a small bottle jack and used that sucessfully for many years until I restored my car in 1980.
