I'm running two of the correct #1816 bulbs in my 66 clock yet it seems to be not as bright as the other instruments. In addition, even though the bulb that crimps on the bottom of the clock to light the radio buttons is working, both the radio and heater controls seem very dim. Should I be running a more powerful bulb than the 1816?

Re: C2 Clock Brightness
In my experience with my 66 it's usually the orientation of the bulbs in the sockets or holders. It takes some uncomfortable time spent as far up behind the dash as you can get to try and position the sockets or holders so the bulb light reflects at the clock face and dial indicators. I believe brighter bulbs may cause heat related difficulties.....although there was a post a year or so ago that suggested aircraft instrument bulbs could be used for more brightness. Maybe someone else can comment on this. Hope this helps.- Top
