    66 wiper assembly

had to move my 66 in the rain today, i heard a pop and then the wipers stopped working, i checked the archives sorry if this is mundane, the wiper motor still turns(i can hear it) the park click occurs but the wipers and the posts don't turn, is this a common malfunction and does it sound like a novice could repair it, i'm hoping the the retainer has just fallen off and the arms are not connected but i don't hear any mechanical movement when i move the wipers back and forth, could the motor have failed internally even though i can hear it running? its always something, but what the heck she's 37, thanks

    Joe,

If you are able to move the wiper arms- I sounds like it is more than likely, disconnected the linkage @ the motor. Pull the glovebox and you'll find the answer there. Usually the wiper motors burn up due to not being used. The lubricant hardens up over time - but since your motor is running- a worm gear drive made of metal- I doubt it's internal. Good luck!
