    '58 Trunk Lid alignment

I took off the trunk lid as part of frame-off restoration. The body and all doors and lids are now stripped to bare fiberglas. I have reassembled the doors and lids to check fit. All are ok except the trunk lid. With the hinges depressed and clear of the lid, the lid fits perfectly (1958 definition) into the opening in the body. But when I attach the lid to the hinges, the right (passenger's) side is too high (1/4 inch) at the hinge end and at the lock end. I think that the right hinge, with the three mounting screws, is too high, but I don't see any adjustment there.

    Any help?

Steve when you removed the trunk were there shims located any were??
To bring down the truck line you need to add shims to the single bolt only at the top and not the two at the bottom.Add flat washers till you have a good fit then you can make a shim to fit.

      Roy,

Thanks for the tip. When I disassembled it there were no shims, but there was no latch mechanism so the trunk lid kind of floated and I didn't document the closure fit.

I'll try your suggestions this weekend.
