    C2 Clutch plate for 327/350

Could someone please advise the original clutch plate dia. and if possible the part no. for a 1967 327/350 close ratio 4 speed? If it is 10.5 and I install an 11.0 dia clutch and pressure plate what problems can I look for?

    Thank you in advance.

Re: C2 Clutch plate for 327/350

All 327s through at least '67 used the same 10.5" clutch. I don't think GM services any of the clutch components anymore. I still have an OEM replacement clutch in my car, and they always gave good service other that not lasting more than about 65K miles due to my CR trans and 3.08 axle.

If I ever need another clutch, I would buy and OEM replacement from Sachs, Luk , or Borg-Warner.

A 11" clutch will require a different flywheel, starter ring gear, and I belive the starter or it's mounting must be modified. Unless you plan on drag racing a lot, I think you're best to stick with a 10.5" clutch.

I have no plans to race but was curious as to what would happen.

Duke, of the 3 manufacturers you mentioned, do you feel they are equivalent in quality? I'm in the process of replacing the clutch on my '69 L46 and am considering an OEM replacement by Luk but want to be sure that it's of good quality. I want to stick with OEM design to avoid the myriad of problems with clutch geometry that have been reported with differing aftermarket designed clutches.

        Thanks,
        Shannon

I can't distinguish between the three I mentioned from personal experience, but I do know that Luk supplies many OEM clutch assemblies to OEMs worldwide. They are a quality manufacturer, and I go on the assumption that their aftermarket replacement kits match original OEM design and quality.

John Hinckley can probably offer some additional comments.

LuK is the world's largest OEM clutch manufacturer, and they also supply the OEM Viper clutch, which has proven superior to all the "tuner" Viper clutches, under all manner of abuse. I put one of their "Vintage Replacement Line" clutches in my '57 six years ago (from Paragon), and it was excellent - never had a problem with it.

Thanks John. The Luk "RepSet" clutch kit is the one I am look at for my '69. It appears to be an OEM equivalent with all new components and it's very reasonably priced. I appreciate your feedback.

In addition to the parts that Duke mentioned, if you change to an 11" clutch, you'll have to change the bellhousing, too. So, it's not just internal and unseen parts that have to be changed. I would not recommend a change for you.
