    '68 Factory Alarm

The factory alarm switch on the back of the '68... Should it be similar to the switch found on later model Vette, (e.g., '74) or is it smaller in size with a smaller bezel?

The alarm switch on the back of the 68 thru early 70 is a Briggs & Straton lock with a special key. After mid 70 thru 77 they are GM and are keyed the same as the other locks (oval key). In 74 they use the same lock but it is mounted on the left fender. They were optional until 72, then they were standard.

The alarm switch should be smaller in diameter than the later cars. The breakoff between the two was somewhere around late 1970 early 1971. Your car should have a Briggs and Stratton key . The later cars used the round GM key that worked your spare tire lock and the locking rear compartment. The two swithes look nothing alike. Paragon sells a great replacement that looks identical to the original. Good Luck
