Know its a pretty silly question, but was wondering where to find the numbers everybody always talks about on a powerglide tranny? Had the car up on stands and looked for them, but through years of built up of grime usually gave up. Is there a book out there that tells exactly where to look for all the different #s? The pan for the filter has the correct date. Also wondering on the rearend. Allready bought the car but just trying to learn more about it. Thanks..

Re: c2 powerglide #s
Chris, after years of wondering about how to find the numbers on my Powerglide, one day I cleaned off the center of the pan and found them. Then I asked the NCRS Forum what they meant and discovered I have a 63 Powerglide on my 62. During that process I also discovered the numbers are fully described in the 1953-1967 Corvette Specifications Guide from NCRS by John Amgwert with a little intent reading. I was referred to this manual by John Hinckley. My numbers were very faint, and were only visible after cleaning the pan and placing a flashlight at an angle to highlight them. Once I found them they fit the Spec Guide very clearly. If you find the numbers, the book will tell you what they mean. ChuckChuck Lyman
