According to a dealer brochure for 1969 that I have and the 1969 AIM, C60 & M40 were not available together with the L-36 engine. C60 was only available with the M-20 trans. I have never seen an A/C automatic BB. Do the exsist or what's the story

Re: 69,.. L-36,M40,C60 ? are there any?
C60 air was available for the M20 and sometimes not with the 21 and 22 because of axle ratio and, sometimes, engine constraints with the close-ratio trans. Air was available on the M40 automatics but it's related to the engine and axle ratio. In other words, you couldn't get air on an L-88 automatic but you could on a 390hp automatic with a 3.08:1 axle. There are other combinations but you get the idea.- Top

I understand what you are saying.... But the sales brochure chart definatly says A/C not available in the block for 390/400 hp/ automatic. M-20 and 3.08 rear were the only combinations with those engines. This is for 69, I know other years may be different. The AIM also shows a section in the C-60 where there was a engineering change eliminating M-40 reference. I don't know exactly where ... I'll find it though. I am just trying to validate that.- Top

AC was available with both "hydraulic lifter" big blocks, the 390 and 400 HP versions, and automatic trans in 69. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: 69,.. L-36,M40,C60 ? are there any?
I was prepared to place an order for a new 69 with 400 HP 427, 4-speed and A/C when Chevrolet first started accepting orders about June of 1968. When the dealer placed the order Chevrolet sent it back and said that would not build that combination because of overheating problems. They would, however, build it with an automatic transmission. I haggled with them for some time but could not get the order placed. I ended up getting a 350/350, 4-speed and A/C. I only kept that car 31 years and still wished I had gotten the 400 HP.
Oh well.

Chevrolet did product the combination later after they made some changes that helped the big block overheating. I have seen a few of them. At the time I did not have the patience to wait. I wanted my new Corvette NOW!
