    KEYS ???????????

I have both sets of original keys to my car. All function properly where they should. However I do not have the "knock outs" If I purchase new GM old stock keys with the knock outs in place and have them cut, which sets should I offer at time of judging? Do the knock outs hold that much or if any weight, point wise, that I should even be concerned at all? I do not have the little bags and such, etc.

    Re: KEYS ???????????

If you have your 73JG now you will see all the glove box paper work is judged with the knock outs. There are about ten items with ten points originalty and five condition on the 73-77 judging sheets. If you get new keys made the knock outs would need numbers on them also to be correct. The cost of points on an item like this may be high. I alway spend my money where I can gain the most points per dollar first.

      Letter stamp

If you buy keys make sure the letter stamp is in the same position as your original keys. They have turned the letter on some of the newer GM blanks.

        KEYS

I have somewhat of a different key question.
I have both set of original keys. I just found the second set last month.
        I'm a 1972 original owner.
The first set are very worn, especially the ignition key. It is about ready
to break off in the ignition switch, therefore some time ago I had a Ace
        Hardware set made.
The 2nd original set has NEVER beed placed into any lock on the car.
That being said, I would like to keep this 2nd set with that unique
        distinction. Never Used.
QUESTION---How can I show the car for flight judging without using the
poor worn out key in the ignition, but still not using the Mint 2nd set?
That is the key question.....Big John

          Re: KEYS

Have a new correct set made. They are cheap and available at most big shows or in hemmings.

            Re: KEYS

Find a key with the letter the same position and have it cut. They are lots cheaper without knockouts and they need the code stamped if they have them. New blanks with the letter turned are cheap.
