    Re: starter code

8A16 Jan. 16, 19?8 1108367 numbering sequence places it at 1968. The last digit "7" is a problem. If it were a "1" then the starter would be a 1968 year 327 with manual transmission. Any chance you mis-read the last digit?

Jack, the last digit is definitely a "7". I pulled this out of my 64 Vet w/ powerglide for a rebuild. The screwhead below the stamping is a philips head, and below "Delco Remy" it says made in Canada. I know it doesn't belong in my 64, but that is not important to me. I am curious which Chevy application it is.
I believe that it is a 1968. Thanks,
      George

        So what would 6 M 12 be?
        Thanks.

Dec. 12, 19?6 where ? could be a 6, or a 7 or even a 5 . Got any numbers on it for a part number? That will narrow the range so that we can decipher the ? .

            Re: starter code

The NCRS Corvette Spec guide does not list that number , with a "7", as a Corvette part. But the closest number with a "1" does make it a 1968 327 manual. So you probably have a regular Chevy starter. Let's face it, the numerical odds are that it was a regular pass. car like a Camaro, Chevelle or what ever.

              Re: starter code

The part number is: 1107365 followed by 6 M 12
              Second line: Delco Remy USA
              Third line: 2 B A

              Thanks.

                Re: starter code

Well now we know why this was important ! 1107365 was on a 427 Corvette during the years 1966, 67, 68, and maybe (unverified) 1969. Therefore, 6 M 12 comes out Dec. 12, 1966 built for a 1967 427 Corvette. Probably just made your day!
