The surprises never end - I have the engine out of my '57 for a rebuild, and decided to take the opportunity to put a new clutch in while it's easy to work on - however, the new 10.4" clutch bolt hole pattern is smaller than the pattern on the flywheel. The flywheel is GM, casting #3789733 followed by a 13, dated ***, and has an 11" diaphragm clutch - I assume it's a 1955 passenger car or truck flywheel - anyone know for sure? I've already got a line on a correct flywheel to replace it with. Thanks!

Re: Flywheel Identification?
John----
I've checked several references available to me, but, so far, I haven't been able to come up with anything on it. Bear in mind, of course, that the 3789733 number is a casting number(or, more precisely, the GM part number for the casting)and the actual part number for the finished flywheel is usually different. However, judging by the number, I would say that this is a 63-65 issued part number. Consequently, the casting date is probably 1965.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
