    C2 Heads

I have a 67 350 hp car which was built in Oct 66. My heads are correct, casting number of 3890462, but the casting dates are K105 and K115. Nov 10, 11 65. That seem very early to me??
    Any comments.

Sometimes "I" is skipped so it doesn't get confused with "1". Not sure if this is the case with heads, but if it is, "K" would be October.

If you're sure that you're reading the dates correctly, the time lapse between the head casting and the car's build date is improbably long and outside of NCRS/NCCB judging standards. That's the bad news; the good news is that dates aren't judged on a 67 since they can't be seen when installed in the car.

        Joe,

Do you have any idea why there would be such a long time between the casting of the head and the build date of the car. Even though the casting number is correct for 1967.

          Lawrence-----

Are you sure that the year numeral is actually a "5" and not a "6"? I don't think that the GM casting #3890462 cylinder heads were even in production as early as November, 1965.

Also, if by your car's build date of October, 1966 you are referring to the body build date from the trim tag and if the body is an AO Smith body, then the actual vehicle may have been assembled at St. Louis in November, 1966. If so, the cylinder head dates, if actually 1966, might be consistent with the car's actual build date at St. Louis.

If the dates are actually 1965 for the heads, then all I can guess is that it's some sort of anomoly.
