Attaching date and serial # plate to generator

Is there a Restorer article, or other place to look, on how to properly attach the serial number and date plate to the generator? At some point, the original generator was replaced with a rebuilt one. The plate was left off. I think the front plate and the pulley may also be wrong, so would a better solution be just buying the entire unit? Thanks.

These plates were ususally attached with small rivets. I'll bet that John Pirkle would be able to re-rivet the plate for you.

The stamped plate from Paragon comes with the rivets, I just want to be sure I do the rivets correctly.

Jack,
I have found the rivets to be a little loose in the holes. I take a little center punch and tap around the holes a little in several places at each hole to shrink the size of the hole. After that you can just drive the rivets in with a small hammer and a punch. I allways put a little 5 minute epoxy on the backside of the tag for good measure as well!
