    Franz,

I've seen that pink car. It still exists with that same paint job. Quite a unique car.

    Good to see you here.

Interesting. I had posted a question months ago inquiring whether any documentation existed that Zora had tried to fit a 409 in a '63 Corvette.

A Z-11 Corvette isn't exactly "your Momma's car". Not very streetable.
And by the way, if it was a Z-11, it was 427 cid, not 409, although it was based on the 409. (No, I'm not confusing that with the "mystery" engine.)

          Verne.

            Hi!
How were the additional taillights installed? Was there additional fiberglass sockets created or holes cut to receive the lights?

            Thanks, Ray

Bob, Keep me up to date with your F&SO paperwork. I am still attempting to find mine. Terry Michealis (I no that is a swear word) put me in touch with a Pontiac guy that once worked in the Fleet and Special order dept. He thought all the special order and COPO papers were destroyed at the end of each year but I couldn't believe this. Remember back then Full size cars were built right beside the Corvette line and the F & SO dept had tons opf paperwork because of the Full size Chevs used for police, fire, taxi's ect. My tank sheet shows a statement at the end of the option list to build the odd color combo but finding the F&SO document would be great incase there are more deviations that are not recorded on the tank sheet.
Buy the way Bob did you ever make contact with any of those other COPO guys I sent you? Joe

Yes Franz, There were many distinct differences between the two 427s in '63. The Z-11 was in most respects a bored and stroked "409" with a new top end, crank, rods and pistons. It still retained the same 16deg angle deck surface and bore center spacing as the 409. The mystery engine was so unique I doubt it had any components that would interchange with either the "W" engine or the MKIV big block, other than perhaps a distributor, fuel pump, etc.

I have known Scott Cornwall for many years and discussed his progress on Dyno's Z-11 restoration with him often. I'm glad to hear you are helping him. He's been working at it for a long time.

It is also coincidental that the Z-11 cars are a very active subject of interest and documentation for me, and the fact that the only Corvette I ever owned was a Z06.

                  Verne.
