Can anyone tell me how to detect an original 1956 owners/operations manual from the current repos available? I seem to remember a discussion about the early ones not having "first edition" on the lower right of page three. I have an original "second edition" but am curious about those that claim to be original but have no "edition". Could it be that the very early ones did not have an edition designation? If so, how can you tell if it is an original? Thanks.

I too would be dubious that the "no edition" verson would be considered a first edition. One possible way of telling may be, the second edition makes reference to the Wonderbar radio as being transistorized. The early '56 Corvette radio were all tube type. I would expect a first edition not to mention transistors. On my "to do" list is to locate someone with an original first edition and check this hunch out. Regards, -

Any edition can be reproduced so that is not a real good way to detect a reissue or reproduction manual in my opinion. The quality of the photography is a dead giveaway, meaning the originals are much clearer. Unfortunately it is not always easy to tell unless you have an original and a reissue side by side. Zero in on a photo that has detail, like a tire tread, and look at it closely. I think you will pick out the original fairly easily. More than 1/2 of the manuals out there are what I call reissue manuals, meaning they make no mention of reproduction but were reissued by different sources. When they are reissued they lose clarity.
