I have a set of springs that are grooved that came form I know not where (years of collecting) and each side has the ends of two of the leaves rudely shortened. I can't understand why someone would do that and am wondering if other have seen this. Is it possible to find individual leaves. I would need four to complete this pair for rebuilding.

Re: C 1 springs
Doc------
Once-upon-a-time, GM used to have available in SERVICE individual leaves for certain leaf springs. However, that availability ended over 30 years ago. I know of no other source for individual leaves for automotive leaf springs. VERY few folks are interested in purchasing individual leaves, so spring manufacturers don't have them available. Plus, the leaves that are produced for their springs might not be individually compatible with the leaf springs manufactured by another manufactuer for the same application. However, there are 2 options that I can think of:
1) purchase a complete reproduction spring and strip off the leaves that you need. These springs are really not all that expensive and are easy to obtain. BEWARE, though, as I described above, the configuration, including leaf thickness, may vary on these reproduction springs and the leaves may not be compatible with the original leaves. So, examine CAREFULLY before purchase;
2) find some other used Corvette springs with salvagable leaves of the ones you need.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C 1 springs
I have a '58 ex road racer and the rear springs when I got it had three additional leafs on each side. The extra leafs were vintage Vette leafs with the ends cut-off so their ends would fall neatly between the stock leaf lengths.
The extra leafs reduce the body roll and coupled with the installed'59 radius rods reduced the squat and wind-up.- Top
