    1979 hood badging placement

I have a new, virgin hood on my 1979 coupe. I ordered the emblems that go on the side of the hood scoop that say "L-48". However, I cannot find anyone who knows the correct spot to place them. I need the measurement, from the end of the hood on the windshield side.

I was told to go to my local Chevy dealer. They did know. The dealer then referred to the GM Helpline. They didn't know and referred me to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. They didn't know and referred me to NCRS.

I hope someone can help me or point me to the specs on the web. My car is in the body shop and they are ready to shoot it. This is the only thing holding it up.

Quote from78-79 TIG-JM cars equipped with the L48 engine did not have hood emblems. If you are not planing on having your 79 judged NCRS and want to install them the L82 emblems were approximately six inches from the rear hood edge as per the book. I would think they would be installed after painting and could be added any time it's your choice as the owner for the look you want.
