    C-2 Hood Bonding

I have a 1966 hood that is seperating at the bonds. I tried to re-bond the hood with fiberglass resin and what I call "nytol" (a powder used for thickening the resin). I thougt that I did good until I put the hood back on the car, as soon as I picked the hood up from one corner the bonds seperated again. Anyone, please "What is the fix for this?" By the way it's a "big block" hood if that makes any difference.
    Thanks again, Dave Van

Use fiberglass panel bonding adhesive, it is designed to hold two panels together. It is thicker and heavyier than typical body filler and very hard to sand. This stuff should sit over night for maximum strength.

      Dave,
For what its worth, I would use a product by a company called FUSOR and use their part number 100EZ. It creats a bond that is as strong as if it was originally molded as one piece.

I absolutely 2nd the Lord Fusor product, these have epoxy strengh and the easier usability charcateristics of the polyester based products. My first experience with this was in an advanced Bloomington Gold class a few years ago taught by Al Sowash of Ecklers....it was very easy to use and effective, just not cheap...Craig

To those who responded...Thanks... I have been looking all day for the fiberglass bonding material but to no avail. I think that I should be able to locate a source for the FUSOR product. I will use that. Thanks again...

Dave - Fiberglass Evercoat has several products the call Vetee Bond adhesive, sold through auto body supply shops. I have used them in the past, with good results, but personally, with the advent of the Fusor products, I will use them instead. Here is their website....Craig
