I am in the market for a power antenna switch for my '66 and have not been able to locate even a reproduction or used one. Any ideas?

Dr. Rebuild shows this switch in his catalog under his number 9647656. However, vaguely, I recall some discussion about this awhile ago to the effect that there was a problem with the manufacturing source for this switch. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
Chip,
I agree with Joe. In 2000 I was looking for the power antenna switch also but read some articles that there were problems, at least at that time, with the reproduction plastic ones not working from the start so I shied away from them and spent two days at Bloomington Gold 2000 looking for a used one. Found one within the last hour I was there. Only paid $60 for it. Felt like I was stealing it but that was all the individual wanted. Cleaned it up and it has worked fine ever since. I believe you should still be able to find a good used one if you have patience.
Good Luck.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
Well, I just typed a long message, which got lost, so rather than do that again
1. Check e-bay. There's one there now bid is $105
2. Try Stoudt Corvette in Reading PA...not sure, but they might have had one a few months back. I paid $150 for the last one some guy in VT had. They are hard to find.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
I searched for a switch for my 65 for some time, including at shows.
No luck. Someone on this site suggested a small marine momentary switch, which
I located locally for 8 bucks. It required a small amount of filing, but the
switch fits well in the original housing, and works perfectly. A small point
deduction if that matters to you, but a dependable functioning switch is certainly worth it to me.Check local marine/RV dealers.- Top

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
Chip:
I bought the switch for my 1965 sometime in late 2001 from Chicago Corvette. Their Bob Sindilar has a rival business with OEM Glass of rebuilding the '65-'66 antennas, and Chicago Corvette often buys entire runs of reproduction switches ( manufactured by, I believe, Trim Parts) whenever they are produced--usually once every two years or so.
The switch that I recieved was not at all robust, and so, rather than pay top dollar for a pitted and worn out original, I decided to CAREFULLY open up and tweak the new one. It now works and feels like it should, but since mine is a sidepipe car, I don't anticipate putting it through too many cycles.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
I placed an order with Dr. R today and asked about the Power Antenna switch, as I need one also for my 1965. They said the part is discontinued/not available. This isn't good news, but the same as I have been hearing for almost a year now. If anyone finds a supplier it appears that there is a growing need.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
I mentioned this recently, but a while back I was in the same boat. My solution was to locate a small marine momentary switch locally. With a very small bit of filing I was able to fit this switch in the housing and it works perfectly. Don't know how many judging points to lose there, but it is really nice to have a funtioning and rather invisible switch without the worry of
failure. Doubt you will see a repro anytme soon.- Top

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
The marine switch solution is good if you have the housing. I didn't, so I called every ad in hemmings that said they had C2 parts. Found one in NH, but I think it was the last one. They do turn up on e-bay about once a month and go in the $100 to $150 range. Watch e-bay and look in hemmings for an ad from NH. I can't remember the name now, but when I get to my Hemmings, I'll find it again. If you have the housing, then you're better off doing the replacement suggested above.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
George,
If you can get a replacement, either used, nos or marine, I'd like to try and rebuild your original for you. If the internal parts or rocker isn't physically broken, I think I can fix it. No charge, just postages. But I need to see it. Let me know, on/off line.

Re: '66 Power Antenna Switch
Chip,
I have the switch, bezel, 3 wire harness with connector from my 66 coupe. The bezel has a few pits and will likely require replating. The switch checks ok with an ohm meter. If you are still looking let me know and we can come up with a fair arrangement.
Thanks,
