    C2 Water Pump?

Have a water pump #31284 G 2 0*63, but I don't have literature on C2's. Can someone tell me if this was used on Corvettes? Thanks.

    richard:
I checked my 1964 judging guide and found that water pumps where not dated untill november 1965...all engines use casting # 3782608 except high proformance uses # 3859326...hope this helps

Richard - 284 water pumps are big block pumps....check your date to see if the 63 is really a 68, it would then make sense....Craig

The date code on it reads: O 63. Could this be some type of aftermarket unit and not a GM Original?

Maybe....is the part number ending in 284 ONLY the digits you indicate? GM uses 7 digits, I don't remember the exact part off the top of my head but it does end in 284. If the pump only lists what you state, then it doesn't sound like a GM pump, but I don't know if there were aftermarket castings in that era yet, maybe someone else knows...Craig

This has 5 digit casting number. Then it has a G, not GM. Then the numbers
0 63 that appears to be a date code. Could it be 1970 June 3?

Sounds like an aftermarket rebuilder casting to me; GM didn't have any 5-digit casting numbers, nor did they have casting date codes for the month past "L", and it would have "GM" on it, not just "G".
