    Temp Gauge calibration

I'm trying to calibrate my NOS temp sender and measuring with an electronic gauge at the base of the sender I read 194 degrees while the gauge in the car is sitting on the first unmarked mark (The one right after 100) Would this unmarked mark be considered 190 ? (This is a 1968 L71)

    Thanks for your help!

    Re: Temp Gauge calibration

Steve: See an earlier posting I made on sending units and "calibration". Be careful not to put too many ohms in line to the sending unit. The gauge needs a minimum amount of ohms to read hot. If you put too many in line to calibrate for 180 or 190 degrees the gauge will not read an overheat situation, which is really the critically correct temp you must read or face major problems as you could imagine. To help you out I need to know the resistance between the tip of the sending unit and the block (with the temp gauge wire disconneted) at as close to 70 degree ambient outside air temp. Make sure you take an ohm reading after a full night of cool down. If you let me know the reading, I believe I can start to help you out. Dwight Farmer
